POINT was founded in 1920 as a maker of handcrafted rattan furniture. Over almost half a century, different generations of the Pons family have turned it into a leading name in the Spanish outdoor furniture sector and its products can be found in hotel establishments across all five continents.
Its growing expertise has led it to innovate with new materials and production methods, tailor made for clients worldwide looking for furniture that can be left outside all year round without deteriorating. It uses materials like the fabric Shintotex, a new-age synthetic fibre that looks like natural wicker and has the benefit of being 100% recyclable. The company attaches great importance to user comfort and the fibre is as solid as it is flexible, adjusting to suit individual weight and shape. It can also be dyed many different colours and woven into diverse textures and designs.
All the items are designed and made in POINT’s Jalón (Alicante) factory in Spain. The company controls the process from start to finish, from material selection and design to final packaging.
In 1970, designer Gabriel Pons joined the firm and turned their craftspeople’s know-how into a key tool in product development. Since then, new designers have come on board and the company also has partnerships with independent designers like Gabriel Teixidó, Francesc Rifé, José Manuel Ferrero (estudi{H}ac), Ximo Roca, Vicent Martínez and Joaquín Homs. They have over 300 products in more than 40 collections, including PAL designed by Francesc Rifé and WEAVE by Vicent Martínez.
POINT’s commitment to high-quality designer outdoor furniture has convinced clients around the globe, particularly in the luxury hotel and restaurant sector, with an impressive list of major hotel chains like Marriott, Jumeirah, Ritz Carlton, Iberostar and Barceló. More than 1,000 projects worldwide use POINT collections, including Resort Al Baleed in Salalah (Oman), five-star hotel One and Only Royal Mirage The Palm in Dubai, Hotel King Street Townhouse in Manchester and Chef Ricard Camarena’s restaurant in Valencia (Spain).
POINT exports to more than 70 countries account for 70% of turnover, in particular to UAE, Mexico and Europe. Its new products are showcased at leading international furniture and design shows like Salone del Mobile in Milan, IMM Cologne, BDNY New York, Hospitality & Design Las Vegas and I Saloni WorldWide in Moscow. The company also has its own showroom in Dubai (UAE) and a permanent business office in Miami (USA).
